ITINERARY & PORTS
GREAT STIRRUP CAY, BAHAMMAS
In the 1970's Norwegian Cruise Lines developed Great Stirrup Cay as the industry's first private island playground. Needless to say, the idea really took off. All major Caribbean cruise lines now offer stops at their own Bahamian island for an afternoon of hassle-free surf and sand. If you were to sit down and design your own private island, it would probably look a lot like this one. Except for your fantastic private mansion, Great Stirrup Cay is lacking very little in the way of amenities and activities. The beach, of course, is the main attraction, offering swimming, snorkeling (coral reefs surround the island), rafts, paddleboats, catamarans, and kayaks. For the less-wet set, there are volleyball courts and hiking trails. Set out and try to find the island's lighthouse. Appetites are readily appeased at the beach barbeque and the thirsty can head for the beach bar. Music arrives courtesy of a calypso band so you can limber up with a limbo contest - then limp off to a waiting, palm-shaded hammock.
OCHO RIOS, JAMAICA
The name Ocho Rios means eight rivers, but the one word to describe Jamaica is inspiring. Its sun-drenched canvas of blue-green mountains, white-sand beaches and turquoise waters makes this island nation one of the most wonderful destinations in all of the Caribbean. From the warm breezes that blow under cloudless blue skies, to the cool waters of the mountain streams that lead to the sea, and the fragrant flowers that drape the rolling hills, Jamaica entices her visitors with a feast for the senses.
365 days of crystal-clear warm water and almost no current give Grand Cayman the ideal conditions for diving and snorkeling. You'll be amazed at the breathtaking marine life and seascapes that provide underwater photographers with subject matter beyond compare. Even those who don't want to get wet can experience awesome sea viewing from the comfort of a submarine.
Long before Cancun became a popular destination, Cozumel was well-known as a diving spot and home to the world famous Palancar Reef, which gives divers the opportunity to view thousands of brilliantly colored fish and coral formations. Non-divers can kick back on a sun-drenched beach, or enjoy any number of seaside activities, such as shopping in colorful marketplaces or dining in an open-air café. There are a myriad of fun activities such as journeying around the island in a customized Dune Buggy convertible, snorkeling and scuba diving in the crystal clear waters to the incredible reefs, or viewing them from a mini-submarine. Across from Cozumel on the Yucatan Mainland are ruins of the ancient Mayan civilization which once inhabited this area. Day trips are available to explore the ruins of Tulum, an ancient walled city of the Mayans.
Couples Cruise Group Excursions
As we get closer, we will be offering excursion opportunities with the group at these ports (additional costs apply). These are optional, but a fun way to interact with the other couples in the group and enjoy the whole experience even more.
The Norwegain Epic
Norwegian reinvented the way people cruise by giving them Freestyle Cruising®, the freedom to do whatever. The Norwegian Epic is one of Norwegians new ship that reinvents cruising once again. At 153,000 gross tons, the Epic features day and night entertainment where you can wander from one exciting venue to another, and aboard the Epic, there are as many ways to have fun as there are to have dinner. And she’s got the most innovative and wide-ranging accommodations at sea.
ACCOMMODATIONS - The Epic introduces a giant leap forward in accommodations with the most innovative living spaces at sea. The Epic’s New Wave Staterooms offer curved walls that meet a curved ceiling with soft recessed lighting and where every "outside" stateroom has a balcony.
DINING - Yes, the Epic has two main dining rooms. No, you won't recognize them as such. Their dramatic design and delectable dishes were all inspired by the world's leading culinary capitals. These, of course, are merely two of 17 dining options on board the ship. There's an upscale steakhouse featuring both tempting steaks and chops, as well as a traditional Argentinean-inspired churrascaria. There's also Norwegian's signature French Restaurant, authentic Teppanyaki, family-style Italian, tempting Chinese, sensational sushi, freshly prepared pasta dishes that their action-stations offer an absolutely amazing salad bar. You can even dine on eclectic world-cuisine poolside if you so desire.
